Arjen Brink, independent data and AI engineer

arjen brink · independent digital expert · building and advising

Independent digital expert.
I build and I advise.

I build digital products and data solutions and advise boards and teams on digital, data and AI. My experience runs from corporate to start-up and everything in between, from leading a large digital department to building hands-on in a small team. I work per project, a few days a month, or as a fractional CTO or head of digital.

Tools I work with

sound familiar?

What people usually call me about

  • Your numbers differ per system and nobody knows which figure to believe.
  • Your data sits in ten places and someone exports the same report by hand every Monday.
  • An idea for a dashboard or a tool in your portal has been waiting for months, but nobody has time to build it.
  • You are facing a migration or a tool decision and want to know whether you are reading it right before you sign.
  • You have a developer who could do this fine, just not on their own.

services

What I do for you

Four separate services. Hire me for exactly one of them, or for several at once.

Data applications

Software that runs on your own numbers. A dashboard inside your portal, an assistant that answers your team’s questions, or a complete platform. From first version to something that lasts for years.

AI-ready data warehouse

Everything out of your systems in one place, refreshed automatically every morning and adding up. Ready for dashboards, and just as ready for AI that answers questions about your own numbers.

Measurement that adds up

Knowing where your revenue really comes from, with numbers that say the same thing everywhere. Including everything consent and privacy ask of you.

Advice and consultancy

A look before you sign, or a longer stretch as an advisor or fractional CTO. On your data and tooling, but also on how your digital team, roadmap and organisation fit together.

who i work with

Where I make the most difference

Start-ups and scale-ups

You have data work waiting but nobody on staff who can do it, or a junior or mid-level developer who can handle most of it and wants someone alongside now and then. I pick it up or work with your team, without you having to hire.

B2B portals and platforms

You run a portal or platform that needs data and analytics inside it: measurement that adds up, dashboards your own customers use, and the data layer underneath that makes it possible.

Larger organisations

You have a digital team, but nobody who oversees the whole, has to make a hard call or keeps your management team sharp. At VodafoneZiggo I led a digital department of 120 people and know how such an organisation works from the inside. As a consultant or fractional CTO, a few days a week or a month.

Less of a fit: if you are looking for someone to join you full-time as an employee, I am not the person you need.

how i work

How I work

You work directly with me

No account manager in between and no junior learning on your project. The person you talk to is the person who builds it.

Independent, not alone

When a project needs expertise I don’t have, or simply more hands, I bring in someone from my network. You keep one point of contact.

Done means: it runs

You don't get a list of recommendations, you get a tested implementation. And advice always comes with a plan you can actually execute.

Honest about what you don't need

I don't need to sell hours. If a simple solution does the job, that's what you'll hear.

my own work

I don't just advise, I build

Verity is my own marketing data platform and the largest example of what data application development can look like. It pulls in data from Google Ads, Meta, GA4, Shopify and more, brings it together in a warehouse inside your own Google Cloud project, and turns it into answers and activatable segments.

how does meta spend correlate with revenue?

The daily Pearson correlation between Meta ad spend and total net revenue is 0.64 (over 1,189 days), a moderately strong positive relationship. When Meta spend rises, revenue usually rises with it, but the link is not extremely strong. That makes sense, because revenue comes from all channels and not only from Meta attribution.

What the monthly trend shows:

  • Early 2023: low, stable spend (~€1,200/month) with growing revenue. Spend does not look like the main driver here.
  • From Feb 2024: spend jumps to ~€4,000 to 4,600/month and revenue grows strongly with it (from ~€16k to ~€200k in Nov 2024). Strong simultaneous growth.
  • From Feb 2025: spend scales up to ~€11,000 to 13,000/month, revenue fluctuates between €135k and €387k. Spend stays high, but revenue varies more. That points to diminishing marginal correlation at higher spend levels.
  • Note: June 2026 shows a revenue dip (~€9.9k) at normal spend (~€12.9k). This is an outlier that pulls down the correlation for the recent period. July 2026 is also still incomplete (through 24 July).

Correlation says nothing about causality: this is pure co-movement on a calendar basis, not a Meta attribution model. For a more precise view of the actual contribution of Meta I could use the attribution datasets (last-click or linear revenue) instead of total revenue. Let me know if you want to zoom in on any of these points.

who you get on the line

Arjen Brink

I work where marketing, data and engineering meet. In practice that means I set up the measurement, build the pipelines underneath and develop the applications on top. Before this I led a department of 120 people as director digital at VodafoneZiggo. That experience is what I now bring as a consultant, alongside the building work.

  • Former director digital at VodafoneZiggo, 120 people across development, content, design and data
  • Builds and runs Verity, a marketing data platform of my own
  • Works independently, with a steady network for anything outside that
